Design a Website Mockup for a Travel Search Engine (only one page required) by J0ANMM
Background:
Iâm developing a travel search engine that combines flights, trains and buses to provide the best/cheapest trips between two cities (inside Europe only). It is not yet online, but I hope the following example will help understand the concept better:
Letâs say you want to travel from city A to city B:
The existing websites (skyscanner, momondo, google flightsâ¦) will show you all possible flights. However, there might be the option that you can take a train until an intermediate city and a flight from this intermediate city to your destination, being this option much cheaper than any pure flight combination. This is where my search engine makes the difference.
Therefore, I am now looking for a website mockup of just one page: the results page. I would expect from this page:
* Clean design (simple is better)
* Results easy to understand in a fast glance:
* In case of combining more than one transport mode, show clearly which segment is done in which transport mode.
* Each result showing at least:
* City origin
* City destination
* Total price
* Total duration
* Location of stopover/s (if any)
* Highlight somehow the special results; those are the results where there is a connection between train/bus and flight, as this is what differentiates this search engine from all others.
Some points of existing websites that I like are (this is just to give some more information about my taste. The mockup can be based on some of those concepts or not, I am open to any creative ideas):
+ www.hipmunk.com: good overview about each segment, as each result is laid on a timeline.
+ www.adioso.com : simplicity and labeling the best/cheapest and fastest trip.
