Weâre looking to establish a long term relationship with an individual or firm. To select this individual or firm we are looking for someone to design a city-map brochure. Take this challenge to impress and convince us that you are the designer we are looking for!
We have a ready-to-launch customer service product for all hotels in Amsterdam named www.hotelguestservice.com. This will be a project for a number of cities. Amsterdam is the first city to start and after that we will work on other cities in Europe.
The idea:
Together with museums, attractions and hotels we will provide a hotel ticket / guest service in Amsterdam. Guests will be able to use one ticket to all museums and attractions shown on the city map without having to wait in line or deal with money and credit cards. We take the waiting time and hassle out of the equation and the result is even more enjoyable and eventful stay in the city.
How does it work:
- At hotel check-in guests will receive a city-map and ticket pass for the city. The code on the ticket pass will be activated by the hotel. After activation this pass becomes their entry ticket to all museums and attractions listed on the city-map.
- The activated code will be scanned at the entrance of the museum or attraction and this way the amount of the ticket cost will be added to the hotel bill of the tourist or their credit card.
- At hotel check-out guests pay for what they used during their stay in Amsterdam.
What we need:
For this ticket service system for hotels we are looking for a designer that can design a city-map brochure + ticket pass (sort of plastic credit-card-sized pass with QR code) that breaths customer service for hotels. It would be very usefull if you can include a counter display in your design to put on the front desk, in which the brochures can be displayed.
Specs:
- The city-map brochure is a double sided A3.
- Folded back to DIN long 9,8 by 21 cm.
- No. of pages after folding is 12 pages -> see product folding image.
The attachment âcitymap Amsterdam.pdfâ is a first draft created by me to give you a rough idea of what we need. You don't need to take the design into consideration but this is the product we would like you to give the finishing touch to.
The attachment "citymap Amsterdam 2.png" you can use for your own design.
Inside
- On the inside we have the city map -> this city-map is in our possession (including icons, everything). For now you can use the .png of the a3 city-map.
- When a guest receives a city-map the first thing he sees is the inside. And this is also the part that he thoroughly studies when walking through the city. Therefore we want to explain the idea (how it works) also on the front of the map. (The right bottom part of the city-map is a part of the city where no tourists go, so we have space there to use up.)
Back side:
- we have 6 parts, the right top corner is the front page, which should be very attractive so customers will see the brochure / take it / and use it. The middle top part is the back of the map, where we could explain a little more or personalize for hotels. The left part is the page you will see when you open the city-map for the first time⦠Right now we list here 3 attractions that have something to do with moving around the city:
- by boat
- by bike
- by foot
On the 3 parts below we listed the museums and attractions that are a part of our partner network. Meaning that these museums and attractions are part of our system and the guests can actually use their ticket pass to enter.

Design a CIGAR Band/Logo/Label - Aviation Theme by darrencioffi
This contest is to design a logo for 'Principle Cigars,' and a cigar band and label for their new 'Aviator' series of cigars.
If mutually agreeable, there can be more work on additional cigar lines for the winner of this contest.
First, some general notes on the overall style and look of all artwork:
The name of the cigar company is 'PRINCIPLE CIGARS.' All artwork needs to be strong, nicely stylized, classic, elegant, bold, perhaps even haunting. It almost certainly needs to have elements of Art Deco or Art Nouveau. It should NOT be cartoon-like, funny, corny, modern, too simple or overly complicated. See the attached file, 'Style Examples.jpg' to see some looks that work for us as well as what some other people are doing.
1 - LOGO CREATION FOR 'PRINCIPLE CIGARS': This is the part of this project with the least restrictions. The style is extremely important, so please refer to Style Examples.jpg for inspiration. It might be good if there is a hint of an aviation theme to the artwork, as Principle's top cigars are called 'Aviators.' This line will use early French Airship imagery. To see examples of these airships see 'Airship Examples.jpg.'
2 - CIGAR BAND: The cigar band will probably be printed in gold using embossing only, so it can be designed in two colors. To see labels printed this way, look at the attached file, '4lab.jpg.' I say 'probably,' because we are still willing to look at other ideas. The approximate size of the cigar band is shown in the attached file 'size.jpg.' This size is approximate and is just meant as a guide. It does not need to be exact and you can change the exterior shape to accommodate your design. The only parts that are somewhat firm are the overall length of the long portion and the position at which the round portion sits on that length.
Whatever style is adopted for the logo and label should be carried out through this cigar band. If the logo has Egyptian Art Deco 1920s lines, so should the band. The band needs to say 'Principle Cigars,' perhaps with each word on either side of the center portion. It should have some element of the aviation theme but not mention aviation anywhere, as it will be used on cigars other than in the Aviator series.
3 - CIGAR LABEL: This will be a metallic label/tag for the top of the different cigar boxes in the Aviator Series of cigars. It should be horizontally-oriented (landscape), but the exact shape is up to you. They do not need to be rectangular, they can be die-cut. Like the cigar band, these will be printed in metal, but with a thicker material. To see some examples of metal labels, look at the attached file, 'metal.jpg.'
The label/tag should have some sort of airship aviation imagery. The look should be very stylized- again, see Style Examples.jpg. It should include the phrase, 'Aviator Series.' It should also contain the slogan, 'Some have plans, few have principles.'

We require a logo created for our business.
This logo is to be used across our entire business, from stationery, website, marketing, apparel, merchandise, signage etc.
Currently the business name is Avondale Motors Ltd. And as the name suggests, it is primarily involved in the automotive parts industry.
The business has been established for some 40+ years.
Due to proposed diversification, it is anticipated Motors will be removed from the business name. Hence name will eventually be Avondale Ltd.
In order to start building long term brand awareness, the logo must place emphasis on the name âAvondaleâ, but for now include âMotorsâ.
At a future date, âMotorsâ will need to be removed from the logo, so please keep this in mind during initial design.
In addition to its current operations, moving forward, it is anticipated the business will have subsidiaries involved in property development, home loans, automotive sales & finance, and internet services. None of these need be part of the initial logo.
However, our expectation is for an elegant logo, that will be neutral across the broad range of services Avondale will provide.
We are open to suggestions from you as the designer, about this. We are also open to your professional suggestions in terms of color selection, effects, etc.
We seek a designer that has extensive experience, a proven track record and is able to provide a substantial portfolio to confirm this.
