Our Ideas for the logo were something along the lines of showing a red flow chart from with just one path in that tree as green, Signifying the correct / shortest path for the customer. The Logo:

Illustrate an Oak tree with Charactor by perrybond
I need a drawing of a tree with character, this will then be laser cut out of layers of veneer. The veneer will also have detail etched on to the surface. The picture can only be made up of edges or line shading, so I would suggest a pen and ink drawing. I do not wish the drawing to look like a cartoon, and so feel pen and ink would be better than a vector drawing, but I am quite happy to be proved wrong.

Data mining, statistical analysis, visualization of large data set, optionally with web interface by armchaircoder
Note: The specifics of the data and field of application is proprietary and will only be discussed with qualified people, after an NDA has been signed. I do not believe the details are relevant to the overall nature of the work.
I have a set of data in MySQL (other databases could be used) totally a few GB. There are a few tables with 1-10 million lines, and at least one table with 100+ million lines. The data is already cleaned and normalized (or denormalized where I believe it makes sense for speed), and the obvious relationships captured in the schema and associated business rules. In other words, I already understand, and can query, this data for basic facts and relationships using SQL. I can also, by virtue of the data already being in MySQL, do any simple statistics on the data I wish (e.g., averages, standard deviation, counts, min, max, etc.). Now I need to analyze the data in a more complete and sophisticated manner.
I want to know what relationships exist within the data, and how statistically significant they are, at various levels of aggregation, preferably via exhaustive analysis using data mining tools (e.g., Weka). I do not want to have to specify, for example, what pair correlations to check for. I already have an idea of many correlations that are present and have already done some analysis, but with data of this size, there will always be things I did not think to, or did not have time to, ask.
Note that there is not the same amount of data for each entry. For example (this is not the actual data, but I think the parallel is good) pretend the data has to do with the purchasing habits of customers in a chain of supermarkets. Assume I have data on thousands of customers (and that I know something about them, for example, name, age and sex), who have made hundreds of thousands of trips to one of a few dozen stores, and in total, have purchased millions of items.
There are many levels of aggregation at which I can examine this data and find meaningful relationships with reasonable error bars. For example, I almost certainly have enough data to ask questions like "Do customers tend to buy more of Product X at store #1 or store #2?" or "Do males tend to buy more of product X than females?" However, when I slice the data much more finely and ask questions like "Does John buy more of product X than Mary?" I may have so few data points that it becomes important to know when to say "Yes, but the difference is in the noise." And, the point where the noise swamps the data is not necessarily just based on the particular filters I apply, but also to individual behavior. For example, maybe John and Mary buy a LOT of product X, and so I actually have pretty good data on them. So, the answer is meaningful for John and Mary. But, if I ask the same exact question about two other people who hardly ever buy product X, the answer may not be meaningful for those people.
I realize that I am not describing this very technically. I am happy to have a more mathematical discussion later. However, what I want to make clear here are the business goals, in plain terms: Find associations, and assign confidence levels to them, between different pieces of data, at multiple levels of aggregation, so that someone familiar with the data from a business perspective can then look over the information and pick out the associations that seem to be useful or actionable.
Visualization (e.g. charts and graphs) is a necessity, as is some kind of UI to allow running and viewing the various analyses.This UI does not have to be web-based. E.g., it could be in Mathematica, Weka, etc. However, a web-based interface is preferable. Organized, commented code, and at least minimal documentation on system architecture and how one uses it, is a necessity. Note that language parsing and analysis is not needed, though it certainly may be added in the future. Currently, the data to be analyzed is all ordinal or nominal (once normalized using business rules). (Prize: 2000)
